One Garden City Kitchen, Four Countries, Zero Compromise on the Tortillas

La Catracha on State Street serves Honduran, Salvadoran, Dominican, and Mexican food from a family-run kitchen where the tortillas are made fresh in-house.
GARDEN CITY, ID—A small restaurant on State Street is quietly running one of the more ambitious menus in the Treasure Valley, and most people have driven past it without a second look.
La Catracha pairs a Honduran owner with a Mexican owner, and the result is a menu that moves across four distinct Latin traditions without flinching: Honduran baleadas (thick flour tortillas loaded with beans, eggs, avocado, sour cream, and cheese), Salvadoran pupusas made from corn masa, Dominican plates, and Mexican staples. According to a recent video from @HaydenSellsBoise, every order starts with handmade, in-house tortillas—which, as anyone who has eaten one next to a factory version knows, is not a small thing.
For groups, the kitchen offers family packs: 20 tacos, a dozen pupusas, or 15 pastalitos. On fight nights, the spot doubles as a sports bar showing boxing and UFC, which is a reasonable way to spend an evening regardless of your feelings about the undercard.
La Catracha is the kind of place a neighborhood can have for years before word gets out. Consider this word getting out.
