A local travel creator rounds up five of the most distinctive overnight stays in and around Boise, ranging from theatrically themed suites to a very large tuber.

BOISE, ID—If a standard king room with a highway view isn’t doing it for you, Boise has options that lean considerably further into the unusual. According to @travelingspud, who has spent years scouting Boise-area accommodations, five spots stand out for sheer originality.

Anniversary Inn goes full theatrical with suites styled after Egyptian pyramids and Rapunzel towers. The Grove Hotel has a quieter trick: select rooms face directly into Idaho Central Arena, meaning you can watch an Idaho Steelheads game from your bed.

The Avery, a restored downtown property, earns a mention for its character and on-site restaurant. Inn at 500 leans into its Idaho identity with art-forward rooms, personalized service, a butler’s pantry, and a suite dedicated entirely to the state’s most famous crop.

The fifth entry is, technically, not a hotel. The Big Idaho Potato Hotel lets guests spend the night inside a full-scale fiberglass potato—an experience @travelingspud describes as a genuine Idaho bucket-list item.

A cow named Dolly is reportedly part of the deal. For anyone hosting out-of-town visitors who have already done the Basque Block and the Foothills, one of these might settle the question of where to put them up.
