Join the Intermountain Bird Observatory for our fall migration research at our remote Lucky Peak Research Station. Weather allowing, we will band songbirds, raptors, and owls daily throughout the fall. Visitors can meet our team of biologists, watch us conduct our research, and help us release the birds back into the wild after we've finished banding and measuring them. Drop-in visitors are welcome any time, and large groups may schedule field trips by emailing us at IBO@boisestate.edu. Check our Lucky Peak Station webpage for specific time and date ranges for each project. We study Raptors, Owls, and Songbirds at various times each day. Songbird banding: July 16th to October 15th. Diurnal Raptor banding and hawkwatch: August 15th to October 30th. Owl banding: August 28th to October 28th. We hope to see you soon! For more information on when and how to visit, including driving directions, be sure to go to our Lucky Peak Station webpage.
